A 1968 graduate of Bristow High School, Steve Watson was recruited to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College as a Quarterback. Due to an injury Steve quickly became the starting QB of the 1968 Golden Norsemen. Steve became a proven leader and outstanding player during his freshman year.

In his sophomore year Steve Watson led the Golden Norsemen to a perfect 9-0 record and went on to capture the 1969 NJCAA National Championship title. The Norsemen averaged 33.7 points per game on offense and 5.4 points per game on defense.

According to the Norsemen Head Coach, Chuck Bowman, “Watson was a flawless QB and had the total confidence of his team and coaches.”
