In 1968 Coach Chuck Bowman recruited Ralph McGill to play football for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. McGill played safety and was an outstanding kick returner for the Golden Norsemen for two seasons; and distinguished himself as a key member of NEO's 1969 National Championship Football Team and an NJCAA All-American. After graduating from NEO, Ralph played for the University of Tulsa during the 1970 and 1971 seasons where he was honored as Most Valuable Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 1971.
In the 1972 NFL Draft, Ralph was chosen in the second round by the San Francisco 49ers. He played professional football for eight years and spent the last two years of his career in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints.
Ralph McGill passed away in 2015.
