Brian Agler was head
women’s basketball coach of the
NEO Lady Norse from 1984-88,
compiling a 1254-42 record (.747
winning percentage). In the 1985-86 season the Lady Norse posted
a 30-2 record and finished the
year ranked second in the nation.
Brian Agler has been credited with
elevating the women’s basketball
program at NEO to national
prominence posting an impressive
collegiate record of 258-135 (.648 winning percentage).
After Agler spent 13 seasons as a head coach in the
college ranks he was named head coach and general manager
of the WNBA Seattle Storm in January of 2008. In June of 2012
Agler won his 212th
game to become the winningest coach in
women’s professional basketball history, and recently completed
his seventh campaign with the franchise. In 2010 he was named
WNMA coach of the year. Prior to joining the Storm, Brian was
the head coach and general manager of the Minnesota Lynx from
1999-2002.
Agler attended Wittenberg University, where he starred
on the basketball team and graduated in 1980. He was previously
inducted into the Wittenberg Hall of Honor in 1995. Agler and his
wife Robin have a son Bryce and a daughter Taylor.
