Former Northeastern A&M Football coach Samuel Albert “Red” Robertson was the winningest coach in the National Junior College Athletic Association as well as the state.  The Cherryvale, Kan., native began his career at Northeastern in 1945 and coached until 1966.  Robertson was 162-49-7 during his 22 years as coach of the Norseman in Miami.  His teams won back-to-back national championships in 1958 and 1959, won 11 Oklahoma junior college conference titles and appeared in eight bowl games.  The 1953 and 1958 Norsemen represented the eastern United States in the Junior Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.  In 1959, the team won the NJCAA championship.
