Tony Peters, a 1971 Oklahoma All-State selection from Pauls Valley, was a defensive back for the Golden Norsemen in 1972 and 1973. During his two years with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, he totaled 13 interceptions, 10 in his sophomore campaign. In his final game as a Norsemen, Peters was selected as the MVP of the Green Bowl, played in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He continued his career at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the 1974 National Championship team. In the 1975 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Peters in the 4th round, where he spent his first four seasons. The Washington Redskins would be his home for his final six seasons in the NFL. While a Redskin, Peters was selected to the 1982 Pro Bowl and was a member of the 1983 Super Bowl XVII Championship team. In 2018, 247Sports named Tony Peters as the #1 Cornerback in the history of OU football.
