Randy Gipson received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1979 and his master's degree in secondary school counseling from Pittsburg State University.
He began his career as Head Coach of the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College women's basketball team in 1988. When he left NEO eleven years later, the Lady Norse had earned an impressive 290-75 record, including three national tournament appearances with five players named NJCAA All-Americans. The 1990-91 Lady Norse team set an NEO school record for the most wins during their 36-2 season, before being named the NJCAA National Runner-up in Women's Division 1 Basketball. During his tenure at NEO, Gipson was named Region II Coach of the Year three times.
After leaving NEO Randy Gipson accepted a position at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK where he has coached the Lady Riverhawks for 18 years. In his 28-year career as a women's basketball coach Randy Gipson has amassed an all-time record of 599-261.
