Jon Harrison came to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 1969 where he was named All American for his participation in the '69 Golden Norsemen football team's undefeated 10-0 season, which ended with a 20-6 victory over Arizona Western in the 13th Shrine Bowl. Harrison was also named as MVP in the national title game as NEO claimed the National Junior College Football Championship and lauded as part of "the greatest NEO team I have seen in my 26 years with the college" by head coach, Chuck Bowman. Harrison continued his education at the University of Oklahoma where he played a key role in a Thanksgiving Day game against Nebraska, still referred to by many as the "Game of the Century." Sooner Spectator magazine recently named Harrison the No. 3 receiver in OU football history, a remarkable feat during a time of run-oriented wishbone offense.
Until his retirement in 2007, Harrison was coach of his alma mater, Abilene Cooper High School, where he still holds the school single-season record of 78 catches for 1,280 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.
