Carol Calcagno graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 1957. In 1955-57, Carol was the leading scorer for NEO's first women's basketball team before going on to earn her bachelor's degree in Biological Science and Physical Education from Northeastern State University in 1959, and her master's degree from Oklahoma State in 1962. In 1968, Carol and her late husband Nick Calcagno moved back to Miami; and, in 1971, Carol joined NEO as a full time coach.
During her tenure at NEO, she coached the legendary Norse Stars, and Lady Norse women's basketball, tennis and softball. Although she retired from NEO in 2005, Carol continued serving NEO as a part time instructor and as a member of the NEO Foundation Board. In 1990, Carol was named an NEO Outstanding Alumnus. She remains an active member of NEO's continuing education community and a tireless supporter of NEO Athletics.
