After a stellar career as a four-sport letterman at Miami High School, Bob Maxwell brought his athletic talents to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College during the 1956 and 1957 seasons.  Maxwell lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track for two straight years.  As a pitcher for Coach Homa Thomas, he compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.16 earned run average as a freshman in 1956.  He helped the Norsemen post a 15-3 overall record while splitting duties between the mound and the outfield.  He hit .371 with six homeruns and 24 runs batted in and six stolen bases.  During his sophomore season, Maxwell posted a 7-1 record with a 2.44 ERA in 54 innings.  Maxwell earned all-Oklahoma Jr. College Conference honors while hitting .426 with nine homeruns and 31 RBI’s as a centerfielder.
