Lady Norse with an Impressive Sweep Against Independence Community College

NEO won big over Independence Community College 10-2 on Friday at Independence Community College.

NEO Lady Norse Softball jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Tedlock drew a walk, scoring Bieber run, and Tune doubled, scoring both Helm and Hall. NEO added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Independence Community College committed an error, Kelly singled to left field, and Bandy singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Johnson earned the win. The righty allowed only two hits and two runs (zero earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. MacIntosh tossed one and one-third innings of zero-run ball for NEO in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none. Tune went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Riley Kelly, showed the depth of NEO's lineup by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Hall collected two hits in three at bats. NEO accumulated four walks for the game and had zero strikeouts.

Riley Kelly led the game two offense with three hits in three at bats, as NEO defeated Independence Community College 9-1 for game two. Kelly singled in the third inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning. The Lady Norse got on the board in the first inning after Helm grounded out, scoring leadoff, Caylee Holcomb, who was on by a single. They extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Kelly, Howe, and Holcomb. NEO Lady Norse Softball added to their lead again in the top of the third inning when Helm had a leadoff double, Hall doubled, scoring Helm, Tune doubled, scoring Hall, and Kelly singled, scoring both Tune and Kelly, and Howe singled in the inning. Amorosi earned the game two win. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. NEO accumulated 13 hits in the game. Holcomb and Kelly each collected three hits in the game. Howe and Tune each collected two hits. NEO  didn't commit a single error in the field. Tedlock had the most chances in the field with eight.

The Lady Norse are back in action at Iverson Field Monday, March 23rd at 3pm against Labette Community College and then pick up conference play again @ Seminole State College on Thursday, March 26th.
