Box Score 2 NEO took on Connors State College for a Thursday conference match up on March 27th. The Lady Norse won game one 3-1 and lost game two 5-10.
Dasia Mason got the win in the circle, going a full seven innings, giving up only one run (unearned) on five hits. She struck out two and didn't walk a batter. Connors State had a batting average .172 against Mason. Mason helped herself on the other side of the ball as well, going three for three at the plate with two singles, a homer, and two RBI. Corissa Bandel, Chloe Gurley, and Madalyn Norton each had a hit. Kayley Iott tacked on an RBI sacrifice fly ball in the fifth inning to add an insurance run.
Despite putting up nine hits and having no defensive errors, the Lady Norse fell to Connors in game two. Jill McDaniel started in the circle going 1.1 innings, giving up seven hits on six runs, striking out one with no walks given up. Corissa Bandel came out of center field in relief, throwing 3 innings, giving up four runs on four hits, walking four and striking out one. Morgan Barnes came in to finish the game. Barnes went 1.2 innings, with no hits or runs given up, she walked two and struck out three. The defense was perfect, giving up no errors in the field and no passed balls behind the plate. Addisen Hall threw out a runner in the bottom of the fourth inning. NEO had five runs on nine hits. The offense came out hot and nine batters came to the plate in the first inning of game two. Emily Carpenter and Addisen Hall both led with two hits each. Morgan Bandy, Presley Cole, Kayley Iott, Dasia Mason, and Madalyn Norton each had a hit a piece. Emily Carpenter had a single in the first and home run in the 6th inning. Hall had a single in the first and a double in the fifth inning. Iott was hit by a pitch in her first at bat and then had a double in the second inning. Carpenter led with two RBI's, Bandy, Hall, and Madison Pratt each had an RBI.
The Lady Norse are back at home next Thursday, April 3rd against NOC Enid. Game is scheduled to start at 2pm.
