Box Score The NEO Lady Norse softball team kicked off the 2025 season with a double header win against Seward County. It was a cloudy, blustery day but the Lady Norse put on a show for the first games of the season. Game one was a nail-biter with it ending on a walk off in the park home run. Freshman Dasia Mason got the start in the circle, going five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking two. Corissa Bandel came in and threw and inning and a third, stringing out two and only giving up two hits to get the win. The cold didn't bother the offense as NEO had ten hits in the game, with only two extra base hits. NEO also took four free base on balls, stole three bases, and had one hit by pitch. The seventh inning was especially electric with the score being 5-8 Seward on top. With one out Madison Pratt walked, Addi Hall moved her into scoring position, and then with two outs Morgan Barnes scored Pratt with a hard single. Morgan Bandy came up right after and scored Barnes with a double to right center, and Emily Carpenter sealed the deal with an inside the park home run with a deep ball of the right field fence, walking it off 9-8.
Game two the offense continued to roll with twelve base hits. There were three doubles, two homeruns, two walks, and four total stolen bases. Game two win was a complete team win with just about every able body coming off the bench and playing a key role at some point in the game. A highlight was Maci Brown was 2-2 at the plate. The Lady Norse all contributed together and showed how they put all of the pieces together, with an exciting offensive show and defensive display. Sophomore Jill McDaniel started the game and went 4.1 innings, striking out five and only walking two, getting the win. Freshman righty Morgan Barnes came in and threw 2.2 innings of relief. The defense was flawless, with no errors in the game.
The Lady Norse are back in action at Crowder College on Monday, February 10th. First pitch is slated for 1pm.
