Game Recap: Softball |

Split at Home

NEO Softball hosted Allen County for the last games of the three-day spring break stretch. Game one did not go NEO's way. With five errors in the field, the offense had eight hits and chipped away, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the subpar defense. Corissa Bandel started and took the loss for NEO. She went three and one-third innings, giving up two runs (unearned) on three hits, striking out one and walking five. Morgan Wright came in relief and threw 0.2 innings, giving up five runs on four hits, walking and striking out none. Lillie Johnson came in and threw the last three innings, giving up three hits and two runs (1 earned), walking zero and striking out one. The Lady Norse had 8 hits throughout the game. Six singles and two doubles. NEO walked five times and struck out three.

Game two was a different story with NEO scoring in the first inning and not looking back on a 10-2 win in five innings. The Lady Norse scored one in the first, had a big five run second inning, put up two in the third and then tacked on two more runs in the fifth to secure the run rule win. NEO had nine hits, one double and two homeruns. The Lady Norse did a great job taking the walks when given and took seven free bases, only striking out once. Presley Cole was hit by a pitch in second inning. Bandel, Christy, and Carpenter each swiped bags in the game. Kayley Iott had a solo shot in the first inning to open up the scoring and then Madi Pratt had a three-run monster homerun in the second. NEO did a great job scoring their runners with a .364 batting average with runners in scoring position. There were still errors in the field with three. Freshman righty Jill McDaniel gets the game two win. She pitched all five innings, giving up four hits and only two runs, walking three and striking out two.

The Lady Norse get back on the road for a conference matchup with NOC Tonkawa on Saturday, March 23rd. First pitch is slated for 2pm.
