Gabriel Rui is starting his first season as Special Teams Coach at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

Coming out of Hinton High School in 2014, he walked on at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M where he played under Ryan Held for 2 seasons. He was an all-conference kicker during both of his seasons with the Norsemen.  

 After playing 2 seasons at NEO he walked on to The University of Kansas. During his time at Kansas he played under Coach David Beaty and had a successful career. After redshirting in 2016 he took over the starting spot in 2017 and had the second-best season in KU history for field goal percentage in a single season which earned him all-conference which then led to him earning a scholarship in the following months. He went on to have a successful senior season as well and was announced as an all-conference kicker again. He was 78.4% in his career on field goals which makes him No. 1 in KU history for career field goal percentage.
