Baseball Region 2 Tournament

Seminole, OK-

Game 1- The Golden Norsemen faced off against the Connors State Cowboys in game 2 of the Region 2 Tournament in Seminole, OK. The Cowboys got off to a hot start offensively by scoring 9 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Norsemen got on the board with a solo-homerun from Adrian Santana to the opposite side of the field. The Cowboys would go on and continue their offensive show in the second inning. The Norsemen started to chip away at the lead with a double by Eliott Marin followed by a home-run from Marek Lalonde. The Cowboys starting pitcher would ultimately hold off the Norsemen in the seventh inning to secure the win 3-14.

Game 2- The Norsemen took on the Mountaineers of Eastern in an elimination game on Friday. The Norsemen started off good offensively by scoring 5 runs in each of the first two innings with a leadoff home-run from Jordan Forde and a 3-RBI double from Loic Guillemette. Gram Mitchell hit a sac-fly to left-field. In the second inning Marek Lalonde and Alex Descarreaux both hit 2-RBI doubles. Zach Menard had a big day at the plate hitting two home-runs during the game. One was an inside-the-park-home-run off of the centerfield wall. NEO would go on to win 14-2.

Game 3- The late game on day 2 was an elimination game for NEO versus Rose State. This game was one to remember for both teams as it went 12 innings and lasted until 1am. Rose State started well offensively and defensively. They held the Norsemen offense at bay until late in the game. A big hit from Raine Kreklewetz scored 2 runs to tie the game in the 8th inning. NEO would win on a game ending walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Game 4- NEO would have a quick turn-around on day 3 to face the Seminole Trojans in the semi-final game. Sam Lauzon got the start on the mound for the Norsemen. The Trojans would start with an 8 run inning the second inning. The Norsemen would score 3 runs in the 3rd inning. Marek Lalonde hit a 2-run home-run in the 5th inning to reduce the deficit for the Norsemen. The Trojans would add a few more runs in the later innings and hold off the Norsemen to claim the victory. 

The Norsemen would finish the season with a record of 32-19.
