Miami, OK- The Northeastern Oklahoma Golden Norsemen look to compete in a JUCO Festival at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK. The UCO JUCO Baseball Festival is an annual early-season baseball tournament featuring various junior college teams from the region. Held at Wendell Simmons Field, it serves as a key showcase for talent and a season-opening event for many Oklahoma-area JUCO programs. The Norsemen will face Coffeyville Community College on Tuesday at 3:00 pm in a single game. They will play two games on Wednesday starting with Grayson Community College from Texas at 12:30 pm and following up with a third game at 5:30 pm versus Butler Community College. The Norsemen are 4-2 on the season so far after going 1-2 in the series at Panola College in Texas and sweeping Highland Community College in a 3 game series this past weekend.
Coach
Roger Ward commented on the upcoming series, "Our opponents will be very talented groups. Our goal with this festival is to play those talented teams to see where we are against good competition. Playing 6 games in 7 days is a big challenged for any ball club. We are a young squad and it will challenge us in the field and at the plate. It allows us the opportunity to get better every day and evaluate where we need to improve. We start conference play in two weeks so it will be a good test to prepare for that."
