Game 1- The NEO Golden Norsemen start off the weekend with a rout of Highland Community College. The Norsemen were led by sophomore pitcher
Max Burroughsford. He threw six innings only allowing only four hits and two runs. Burroughsford struck out 8 batters.
Kenton Buse came in to the game in relief for one inning. The Norsemen scored four runs in the second inning and another four in the third inning.
Eliott Marin led the offense with three RBI's while going 2 for 2 and walking two times. Cam Ryan came up big in the second inning hitting a 2-RBI triple to right field. The Norsemen had multiple extra base hits to elevate them to victory today.
Loic Guillemette hit a walk off single to right field to force the run rule 12-2 victory for the Norsemen.
Game 2- The Norsemen began day 2 with a win 9-4 over Highland CC. The Norse started hot in the first inning with a 3-run home run from
Eliott Marin. The Norsemen added four more runs in the fourth inning on their way to victory.
Dylan Akers got the day two start for the Norsemen. He struck out 6 batters in 4 innings on the mound and only allowed 2 runs. Marin came in to pitch in the 7th inning to finish the game off. Marin had four RBI's on the day.
Marek Lalonde went 2-2, added a walk, and scored 3 runs.
Game 3- The Highland Community College Scotties came out firing back at the Norsemen in the final game of the series. The Scotties took a 3 run lead on the Norsemen. They relied on a solid outing from their starting pitcher to slow down the explosive Norsemen offense until the fifth inning.
Damon Cochran got the start in game 3. He went two innings, striking out 3, and giving up 1 run. The Norsemen kept the Scotties in check with their bullpen with solid outings from
Andrew Jamgotchian,
Cade Lewis, and
Henry Hutchens.
Kaleb Anderson led off the fifth inning with a double. Anderson then found a way to score a run on an throwing error to first base. The Norsemen entered the bottom of the sixth inning down 1-3.
Eliott Marin started the inning with a single to right field. Lalonde followed it up with a base hit of his own. Guillemette drew a walk to load the bases.
Kenton Buse entered as a pinch hitter and hit a sacrifice fly to right field. In the next at-bat, Anderson hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Lalonde.
Jordan Forde was able to hit an infield single that scored Guillemette to put the Norsemen up 4-3. The Norsemen decided to go with Marin to finish the final game. Marin's breaking ball was working today as he struck out 3 hitters to lead the Norsemen to victory.
