Box Score 2 NEO Lady Norse Softball snatched the lead late in their 4-3 victory over Barton Community College on Monday for the home opener on Iverson Field. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the fifth when Tedlock drew a walk, scoring one run. Barton took the lead in the top of the fourth, but NEO jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Helm doubled to center field, Barnes singled to center field, and Tedlock walked, each scoring one run. Ryan Amorosi earned the win for NEO Lady Norse Softball. The pitcher came in relief and only gave up two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking two. Helm, Marris, Barnes, Holcomb, Howe, Bieber, and Tedlock each collected one hit for NEO. Helm, Barnes, Hall, and Tedlock each drove in one run. NEO had a strong eye at the plate, tallying four walks for the game.
Game two was centered around a gutsy performance in the circle by Morgan Barnes who went 2-3 at the plate and pitched a complete game no-hitter. While the Lady Norse hit the ball hard, but only had three hits: Barnes (2), and Dahlia Marris had one. The winning run was scored by Avery Johnson, who was on by a walk and then scored on a pass ball to push the Lady Norse to a 1-0 victory, staying undefeated on the season.
NEO is back in action at the Branson Tournament starting Friday, February 13th.
