The Lady Norse softball season has come to an end at the Region 2 Tournament in Piedmont, OK. The ladies put up a strong fight, going 2-2 in the tournament. After a tough first game loss against Rose State (3-4), NEO won game two against Eastern Oklahoma State College (10-1). Day three of the tournament NEO faced NOC Tonkawa and beat Tonkawa 13-5 in five innings. NEO faced Baton Rouge Community College for their final game in the tournament, losing 3-4 in ten innings.
The Lady Norse were really firing on all cylinders to finish the year strong, batting .352 with a .427 OBP. NEO had 44 hits in the four games with 36 singles, 3 doubles, 1 triple and 4 home runs. The Lady Norse scored 29 times, with 26 runs earned. They also took 15 free passes with walks and 2 hit by pitches.
The pitching was stellar, being held down by freshman lefty Dasia Mason. Mason pitched 24.2 total innings, giving up 16 hits, 9 runs (only 4 earned), 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. She finished with a 1.135 ERA and held her opponents to a .170 batting average.
On Friday Dr. Kyle Stafford made the trip down to Piedmont for a memorable graduation ceremony for the sophomore class. The sophomore class graduates 13: Abby Strickland, Camille Davidson, Chloe Gurley, Corissa Bandel, Jayley Ray, Emily Carpenter, Jillian McDaniel, Kayley Iott, Maci Brown, Madalyn Norton, Madison Pratt, Morgan Wright, and Presley Cole.
