A Midweek Sweep

The Lady Norse hosted Crowder College for a midweek matchup on February 27th. The Lady Norse came away with a big sweep of the Roughriders, winning game one 3-2 and game two 2-1. Freshman Corissa Bandel got the start in the circle and went the distance striking out four  and walking two. Bandel only gave up four hits and two runs. The Lady Norse only had five hits but they proved to be enough to hold off the Roughriders. Bandel, Calico, Pratt, Price, and Tune each had one hit. Tune had a big two run homerun in the first inning, and Madison Pratt had the go ahead home run in the bottom of the sixth. Tune led the way with two RBI. Corissa Bandel had a stolen base in the first inning.

Game two was just as intense as game one with NEO holding strong to a 2-1 lead to finish the day with a sweep. Lillie Johnson went the entire game only giving up two hits with one run. She walked four and struck out six, leaving her opponents with a measly .083 batting average. Game two's offense also proved five hits could win the game with Tune leading with two, and Norton, Pratt(2b), and Price each adding one. Pratt and Price both had an RBI. There were four walks to help give NEO base runners. Destiny Tune had a stolen base in the third inning. The Lady Norse fought a tough game and came out on top to secure the win despite Crowder's best effort to push one in the seventh.
