#25 Norsemen Throttle Wonder Boys to Extend Win Streak to 10
12-4-23
Miami, OK
The #25 nationally ranked Golden Norsemen hoops returned to the Field House looking to extend NEO's 10-game win streak against the Arkansas Tech University JV Wonder Boys on Monday night. The Golden Norsemen were victorious with a 116-70 win on their home court. According to Head Coach Jeremy Jackson, his team has been working extremely hard to achieve success during the 2023 portion of the schedule.
"We have been playing pretty good thus far, had a couple of bumps early in the season dropping two of first three games both losses against top 25 teams on the road. We really rolled our sleeves up and to work by training and preparing know that we are going to have to be at our best every night," said Jackson.
The Golden Norsemen have been up to the challenge ever since the second loss of the season, demonstrating domination in every game thereafter. The game against the Wonder Boys was no exception. NEO came out firing to a 57-28 lead in the first half alone. While the second half saw the ATU JV have more offensive production, the Wonder Boys had no defensive answer to match up well with NEO. The Norsemen put in 59 points compared to ATU JV's 42 to seal the tenth straight win.
The Golden Norsemen had six players with double-figure scoring. NEO freshman and Houston, TX native Ronyo Obou led the team in scoring with 26 points. Coming off the bench, freshman Albert Wilson III added 18 points while fellow reserve player Tobias Roland netted 12 points. Golden Norsemen and Oklahoma City product Kayden Carter had 15 points followed by fellow starter Massai Graham with 14 points. Sophomore starter Treyvon rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points. Three players including James Locke, La'Bree Williams, Jr, and LePra George, Jr all netted five points apiece. The Norse offense was rounded out with Damani Barley scoring five points and Rashad Key chipping in with a single bucket for two points. NEO had an impressive 58.7 percent field goal average, a 50-percent three-point scoring average, and 94.4 percent from the charity stripe.
With the win, the Golden Norsemen take an 11-2 overall record into the holiday break. Overall, Coach Jackson is pleased with the progress his team has made thus far.
"We have had some great contributions by each one of our sophomores this year and freshmen keep growing every day and making great plays for us. Very excited to see what 2024 brings for the Golden Norsemen," said Jackson.
NEO is idle until January 8, 2024, when the Golden Norsemen face off against conference foe Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on the Jets home court.
