Game Recap: Softball |

Big Conference Sweep at Home

Game one on Sunday, March 13th was a back and forth dog fight against Rose State College. NEO ended up coming out on top, but not before a back and forth fight all seven innings. Rose scored first, but the Lady Norse never backed down and they took care of business. NEO had a big three-run third inning, where Makiah Torres led off with a walk, followed by a Faber two-run bomb. Later in the inning Evy Aud would reach on a single and would come around to score. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the sixth when Sarah Campbell and Paige Morrall had back-to-back singles to right field. Two batters later Tara Hall singled up the middle, moving both runners into scoring position and loading the bases with only one out. Three hole Torres followed it up with a two RBI single to left field. Kate Faber finished up the scoring with another single to center field, scoring Hall and giving NEO the lead going into the seventh. Then she went in to finish the top of the seventh, not allowing the Raiders to score, and closing the game. Evy Aud was the winning pitcher for the Lady Norse. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing five hits and five runs. Faber threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Faber recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save. There was plenty of action on the base paths as NEO Lady Norse Varsity collected nine runs on twelve hits. Aud, Campbell, Faber, and Morrall each collected two hits to lead the offensive category. Horn, Torres, and Donaldson each added a hit to contribute to the high score. Faber had three RBI's, Torres had two, and Campbell, Morrall, and Aud each had one a piece.

Thanks to a big five run third inning NEO put Rose State away for game two, with a 9-3 victory. Paxton Donaldson(1), Makiah Torres(1), and Kayla Paulo(2) all moved runners across the plate in the inning. NEO was hard to keep off of the bases with runners on in just about every inning and a combined seven hits.  Both Kendall Hannon and Evy Aud had long balls in the fifth inning. Donaldson, Hannon, Aud, Tara Hall, Paulo, Torres, and Paige Morrall each collected one hit to push the win for game two. Paulo was the winning pitcher for NEO Lady Norse Varsity. The righty surrendered only two runs on four hits over four innings, striking out one and walking one.  Evy Aud threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
