NEO Stays Perfect at Home

It came down to the wire on Sunday, for game one of NEO vs. Independence Community College with the Lady Norse taking the victory on a dramatic walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh. NEO trailed 10-9 in the bottom of the seventh inning with bases loaded and one out when Paxton Donaldson doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring Sarah Campbell and Tara Hall to secure the win. Kate Faber took the win for game one. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out three.  Hailey Haskell threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. The never-give-up offense was the real story as NEO was down by a six run deficit and managed to continue chipping away each inning. There was only one inning in which NEO did not score. The Lady Norse also swiped four stolen bases, with Tara Hall and Abby Ishmael with one and Paxton Donaldson taking two. NEO racked up 15 hits in the game. Donaldson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits with 3 doubles and a hit by pitch. Sarah Campbell led in the RBI category by driving in four runs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Calee Gregory, Payton Compton, and Makiah Torres had two hits to add, and Paige Morrall, Kate Faber, Tara Hall, and Destiny Tune each tacked on a hit to contribute to the full team win. There were 9 singles, 5 doubles, 1 triple with 3 walks and 2 hit by pitches to complete the 11 run offense. 

Game two went a little more smooth for the Lady Norse as they ran away with the lead early and didn't look back. The bats got even hotter with 12 total hits for game two. 3 of them being singles, 5 doubles and 4 homeruns. Felicity Horn and Kate Faber each had a hit a piece. Paxton Donaldson and Hailey Haskell both added two more. Haskell's hits both being bombs in the fourth and fifth innings. Makiah Torres tacked on three more hits with two singles and a homer in the fourth inning. Kendall Hannon went 3-for-3 at the plate with 2 doubles and a homerun. Hannon and Haskell led in the RBI category with three a piece. Kate Faber was the winning pitcher for game two as well. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out two and walking zero.  Abby Ishmael threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen to seal the deal in the top of the fifth inning.
