Total Team Effort on First Sweep of the Season

The NEO Lady Norse opened up the 2022 season with a series sweep against Fort Scott Community College on February 13th. Despite seeing its five-run lead whittled down by the end, NEO still held off Fort Scott for a 5-4 victory for game one. Kate Faber was credited with the victory for NEO  Lady Norse Varsity. The righty lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out four.  Evy Aud threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Lady Norse racked up eight hits in the game.  Mahala Battiest and Makiah Torres each managed multiple hits for NEO. Calee Gregory, Payton Compton, Kate Faber, and Hailey Haskell each had a hit to help in the 5-4 win. Abby Ishmael led the team with two stolen bases. 

For game two NEO stole the lead late in the game in a 12-4 victory.  The game was tied at four with NEO batting in the bottom of the fourth when Tara Hall singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. This opened the floodgate to a nine run fourth inning.  The offensive onslaught was led by Calee Gregory, Evy Aud, Kendall Hannon, Hall, Gregory, and  Kate Faber, all driving in runs in the inning. Aud was the winning pitcher for the Lady Norse. The righty went two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and walking zero. NEO launched the two home runs on the season; Gregory had a homer in the fourth inning, followed by Destiny Tune in the fifth to walk it off in run rule fashion. NEO  tallied 11 hits in the game. Aud, Faber, Hall, and Tune all collected multiple hits. Aud went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Norse in hits, with three RBI to match. NEO was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Faber had the most chances in the field with four. NEO tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Paxton Donaldson led the way with two. Gregory, and Torres each had a hit a piece to contribute to the win.
