Men's Soccer Looking Forward To The Start of 2019 Season

8/22/2019 10:20:00 AM

With two pre-season scrimmages behind them NEO Men's soccer are now will focusing on games that count.

After good showings against Jon Brown University on Aug 13th and Oklahoma Wesleyan University on the 19th the outlook for this season looks bright. Against Jon Brown, the team had only been together for 5 days. Leadership from returner Angel Avalos in the midfield and from new comers Alex Pike and Marc Rovira had the Norsemen looking poised and organized. Against a tough JBU side, NEO allowed very few shots on goal. Late in the game NEO gained some offensive momentum and eventually forced a PK to get on the board.  Throughout the evening, the Norsemen demonstrate upgraded depth in all position.

Against Oklahoma Wesleyan the Norsemen's offense came to life. Alex Frances led the way scoring all 3 goals for the Norsemen on the day. While 3 goals were scored, many other opportunities were created while a variety of midfield combinations worked well for the Norsemen.

With the 2 pre-season games behind them the Norsemen look to open up with a busy Non-conference schedule. In the first 7 days of the season. The season will open up on the road on August 24th against nationally ranked Cowley County. On August 27th the Norsemen will host Neosho County, and will then turn around and host the Coffeyville Ravens on Aug 30th.
