The Lady Norse were looking for an upset as they took on NJCAA Ranked #9 Rose State College Sunday on Red Robertson Field.
Freshman midfielder Delaney Curtis scored NEO's lone goal 66 minutes into regulation game play with the assist from sophomore
Kenzie Saul.
While the Lady Norse kept good possession and pushed the ball into the attacking half during the first 45 minutes of play, the Raiders eventually took over the pace of the game in the second half.
With 12:30 left in regulation play Rose State tied the game up. With 20 seconds left they broke down NEO's defense yet again and finished the game 2-1.
"I'm proud of the girls," said head coach
Lisa Bell. "We stepped on the field with one goal in mind and that was to make an upset. We were the underdog in this matchup. Rose is 8-1-2 in conference play vs our 3-7-1. Every team from here on out is going to have to prove that they deserve to move on and play in the tournament. We aren't going to roll over and let them move on without a fight."
Freshman GK
Julia Bruner walked away with 14 saves on the day.
The Lady Norse are back home Thursday against NOC-Tonkawa then hit the road Sunday for the final game of the season vs Seminole.
