MIAMI — Northeastern A&M's Gervarrius Owens and Tommy Heatherly were named first-team NJCAA All-Americans Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Defensive back Taquelin Harris was a second-team pick and running back Darran Williams earned honorable mention recognition.
Owens (6-2, 200), a first-team all-Southwest Junior College Football Conference pick, is a redshirt freshman from Southmoore.
He was NEO's second-leading tackler in 2018 with 51 tackles and 41 assists and had two tackles resulting in 5 yards of losses, three interceptions and three pass deflections.
The 6-0, 210-pound Heatherly, a sophomore from Grove, was selected as a first-team special teams punter.
Heatherly, also an SWJCFC first-teamer, averaged 41.6 yards (third nationally) on 61 punts —with a long of 65 yards at Blinn.
He also had three other punts of 60 yards or longer.
Harris (6-3, 190), another Southmoore product, logged 40 tackles, 13 assists, two tackles for losses, one fumble recovery, two interceptions and a team-best 14 passes broken up.
Williams (6-0, 185, from Edmond Santa Fe) was the offensive player of the year in the SWJCFC.
