August 22, the Soccer Norsemen opened there season by hosting Cowley County Community College. The Norsemen struck first with Victor Arias finding the net 18 minutes into the first half on a breakaway. 10 minutes later Cowley would even the score by finishing a penalty kick. Freshman forward Cameron Eaves put NEO back on top before the half by finishing a goal set up by Arias.

In the second half NEO seemed to lose a bit of momentum. NEO held onto the lead until approximately the 72 minute mark when Cowley would even the score 2-2 by finishing a ball played across the goal mouth. NEO responded with two quality attempts in the final minutes of regulation, but ultimately the game would go to overtime.

In overtime Cowley went on the offensive but couldn't find the net in the run of play. 6 minutes into the overtime NEO surrendered a 2nd penalty kick that would be the game winner for Cowley.

NEO will look to bounce back against Neosho County on Saturday Aug 25^th. Saturday kicks off a stretch of 5 road games. The Norsemen return home Wed Sept 12^th when they host Eastern.
