MIAMI — Scoring all the goals in the first half Sunday, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Golden Norsemen battled the Eastern State College Mountaineers to a 3-3 tie through double overtime on Red Robertson Field.
Sophomore midfielder Sinue Rodriquez scored two goals and earned an assist for the Golden Norse in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference contest.
After Eastern (4-2-1 and 1-0-1) built a 3-0 lead, Rodriquez used his speed and agility to tally an unassisted goal midway through the first 45 minutes.
Six minutes later Rodriquez received a pass from freshman forward
Victor Javier Arias to cut the deficit to a 3-2 score.
With four minutes left in the opening half the two exchanged rolls as Arias took a pass from Rodriquez to create a 3-3 deadlock at halftime.
Neither team could score in the 45-minute second half nor either of the two five-minute overtime periods.
NEO goalie
Mario Juarez recorded four saves during seven shots on goal during the entire 110-minute match.
The Golden Norse (4-3-1 and 0-1-1 in the OCAC) remain at home for a 6 p.m. conference match with Rose State College. The Raiders are 1-0 in the conference and 5-5 overall.
