Box Score MIAMI - Receiving points from all 14 team members, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Lady Norse cruised to a 111-46 victory Tuesday night over the Bacone College junior varsity in the NEO Field House.
The Lady Norse carry a 3-1 season record into the 5:30 p.m. rematch Wednesday with Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College Lady Ravens in Nellis Hall.
Former NEO assistant coach Steve Harrel has guided the Lady Ravens to a 1-1 record thus far in his first season as head coach. After Coffeyville dropped a 63-56 decision last week at NEO to open the season, the Lady Ravens defeated Labette (Kansas) Community College 57-54 last Saturday in Nellis Hall.
"Sometimes you can't tell as a coach in a JV game how well you're playing," Lady Norse head coach Jim Rowland said. "But, I thought we had great ball movement on offense.
"We got to rest some people tonight because I expect it to be a real donny-brooke over at Coffeyville," Rowland said. "They played us real hard last week over here and I don't think it will be any different over there Wednesday.
"All we really wanted to do was execute and not get sloppy," Rowland said. "I thought we reversed the basketball, I thought we moved the basketball and attacked the rim and most importantly, I thought we shared."
During the first quarter, NEO built a 27-9 cushion as all five starters tallied points.
The Lady Norse constructed a 55-23 lead at halftime as their team defense forced 16 turnovers in the first two quarters that equated to 21 second-chance points. NEO's height advantage also translated to 24 points in the paint.
"In games like this, you want the kids to get better," Rowland said. "You don't want them to play soft or look lethargic because you want to make sure that you're getting something done as a team."
Using the depth of the bench, the Lady Norse pulled away in the third and fourth quarters to create a 65-point advantage at the final buzzer.
Five NEO players scored in double figures led by point-guard Kamry Orr with 18 points. Mikayla Shulanberger contributed 13 while Hatty Nawezhi turned in a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Courtney Condit came off the bench to tally 12 points while Sara Boric added 10, Maria Delgado 9, Paige Miller 9, Lindsey Showalter 7, Katarzyna Olezak 6, Lauryn Washington 6, Delaysha McCall 3, Mariah Green 2, Jennah Coffman 2 and Emeritz Larranaga 2.
The Lady Norse sank 44 of 86, including 10 of 35 from 3-point range, for 51 percent from the field and 13 of 18 for 72 percent from the free throw line.
Emily Basks and Azalariah Jones combined for 10 points each respectively to lead the Lady Warriors.
