The Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College wrestling team opened the 2016-17 season defeating Neosho Community College 46-0 on Sunday (10/30/2016) in Chanute, Kansas.
The Norsemen won all ten matches including three pins, one forfeit, one technical fall, and two major decisions. The match began at 125 lbs. with returning All-American
Logan Terrill, Ark City, KS recording a fall in the first period over Alpha Diallo.
Sean DeShazer, 133 lbs., Wichita, KS. followed with another fall at 3:45 over Antonio Solinas.
Curtis Burnett, returning All American at 141 lbs, from Independence, KS. then won with a technical fall over Mateo Soto 20-2.
Dustin Hayden, 149 lbs., Johnstown, CO. scored a major decision 14-2 over Randle Crawley. Then
Asa (Alex) Nelson, 157 lbs., won 10-5 over Cole Franklin.
At the halfway point NEO led 24-0.
James Wyatt Jordan, 165 lbs., Collinsville, OK. then secured his pin in :31 over Christian Fust for the fastest fall of the day.
Saul Ortiz, 174 lbs., Wichita, KS then was awarded a forfeit victory as Neosho was unable to supply a wrestler.
Sam Dawes, 184 lbs., Coweta, OK. then moved up a weight class from his normal 174 lb. class and defeated Jujuan Butts with a major 15-1 decision. Freshman,
Ruston Duke, 197 lbs, Plainview, OK. then defeated Darrell Wallace 5-2, before
Shawn Michael Beeson, Monett, MO. secured a 9-5 decision over Nick Carson. The final score was NEO 46, Neosho 0.
The wrestlers will spend the week in preparation for next Sunday when they wrestle Labette Community College in our college field house along with Oklahoma State University taking on Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA). That match is set for a 2:00 PM start.
