Murray State No Match For Women

NEO wins 4-1

MIAMI — Concluding the regular season on a winning note, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Lady Norse soccer team earned a 4-1 victory Sunday over Murray State College on Red Robertson Field.
With the victory the Lady Norse carry an 11-5-1 season record into the 2:30 p.m. Friday first round of the Women's Division I Region II post-season tournament at Red Robertson Field. NEO finished 5-2-1 in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Division III Murray State College Lady Aggies finish 5-13 on the season.
Redshirt freshman forward Morgan Wooten scored NEO's first two goals against the Lady Aggies.
With an assist from freshman midfielder Alexis Earp, Wooten found the back of the net with 7:01 gone in the first half.
Wooten's second goal came off an assist from freshman midfielder Chloe Shipway eight minutes later.
Just two minutes until halftime, the Lady Norse built a 3-0 cushion on a goal by freshman midfielder Bailee Russell off a pass from Earp.
Wooten gained an assist off a pass to freshman midfielder Ashya Butler at the 57-minute mark in the second half to give NEO a 4-0 lead.
Murray State midfielder Kaytlin Kanode broke the shutout after a pass from forward Delaney Marrs at the 69-minute juncture.
After NEO sophomore goalie Darista Herrera held Murray State scoreless through the first half, freshman Madison Smith recorded two saves on three shots in the nets during the second 45 minutes.
