MIAMI - Extending their staunch defensive play to cover three games, the Northeastern A&M College Norse opened the home portion of their schedule Friday with a 4-0 victory over Cowley County (Kansas) Community College at Red Robertson Field.
With the win, coach Lisa Bell's Norse carry a perfect 3-0 record into a match at 2 p.m. Tuesday against Metropolitan Community College-Blue River campus in Independence, Missouri. The Trail Blazers are 1-1 on the young season.
Continuing to utilize an aggressive offensive approach by attacking the opponents goal, the Norse took 12 shots on goal in the first half and eight in the second 45 minutes.
Freshman goalie Daritsa Herrera, of Princeton, Texas, repelled three shots on goal in the first half and one in the second to earn four saves. Through three matches, Herrera has recorded 13 total saves.
