After watching the Lady Norse complete a 2-0 opening win in Paris Texas it is was time for the Men to get a win of their own.
After giving up a goal in the first minute of the game, the Norsemen rallied back to take control of the match.
Michael Husbands scored just minutes after the Paris opening goal with a header to even the score at 1-1. Twenty minutes into the half Johnathan Banos put away a long corner kick to the back side of the goal to give the Norsemen the lead. NEO would have several chances in the remainder of the half, but ultimately would head to the locker room with a 2-1 lead.
In the Second half Husbands would waste little time extending the Norsemen lead.
Miguel Morales took a long throw that found Husbands on another header to put NEO up 3-1. With 31 minutes remaining
Jordan James would create a scoring change on a through ball up the middle. James was taken down in the box before getting the shot off, setting up a penalty. James completed the PK to put the Norsemen up 4-1.
Just as things seemed comfortable for NEO, Paris would make one last effort. Scoring back to back goals on some defensive miscues by the Norsemen Paris cut the lead to 1. Husbands however would answer again. With 15 minutes remaining in the match
Michael Husbands again scored off a header to put the Norse up by 2. NEO controlled possession for the remainder of the game to seal the 5-3 victory.
NEO will be back in action on Wednesday the 26
th when they travel to Ardmore, OK to take on Murray State. The home opener for the Norsemen will be on Friday Aug 28
th against Cowley County.
