Volleyball Drops Last Few Matches In Tournament

MIAMI — Dropping three straight matches in the second annual Northeastern A&M Norse Invitational Volleyball Tournament, NEO finished third Saturday out of five teams.


Division 1 Pratt (Kan.) Community College won the two-day event with a perfect 4-0 record. Pratt is currently 11-3 on the season.
Southeast Nebraska Community College of Beatrice finished second with a 3-1 mark. The Storm are also 11-3 on the year.
Coach Eric Iverson's Norse opened the tournament on Friday with a 25-23, 25-12, 19-25 and 25-8 victory over the Lady Pirates of Independence (Kan.) Community College. The Lady Pirates lost four straight matches and are 0-6 on the season.
Battling the Southeast Nebraska Storm in the best-of-five second match, the Norse won 25-21 before losing by identical 25-18 scores. NEO tied the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth game before dropping a 15-6 decision in the fifth match.
Facing Labette (Kan.) Community College on Saturday morning, the Norse began the match by winning 26-24 before the Lady Cardinals rallied with 25-23, 25-21 and 25-19 victories to capture the match. The Lady Cardinals are 2-8 overall.
Concluding the tournament against Pratt on Saturday afternoon, NEO lost three straight games by 25-23, 25-23 and 25-10 scores.
The Norse (4-5) remain in the Student Activity Center on Thursday for a 6 p.m. match with the Metropolitan Community College-Longview Lakers (3-4) from Union, Mo.
