GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - Much like the Northeastern A&M Golden Norsemen, the College of DuPage Chaparrals are starting from scratch on their offenive unit as they prepare for Saturday's 1 p.m. season opener at McDougall Field.
Third-year head coach Matt Foster and his staff return only one player on offense from a team which finished 7-4 last season.
Wide receiver Marquez Beeks (5-8, 174 from Boylan Catholic in Chicago, Ill.) recorded 11 catches for 74 yards and one touchdown in nine games last season. Beeks is currently the No. 2 wide out on the right side behind freshman starter Kyle Gregory (6-3, 185 from Evanston, Ind.).
Featuring an offense that is predicated on the run, the Chaparrals have a very big, physical offensive line to go with three fleet-footed wide receivers. They are expected to use a wide open passing attack to set up the running game.
Starting in the Chaparrals backfield will be freshmen Zach McHoney (6-3, 185 from Lyons Township, Ill.) at quarterback with Martine Perez (5-11, 190 from Columbus, Ohio).
