Asia McCaskill added 12 to lead the Northeastern A&M Norse to an 82-64 victory Saturday afternoon over the Mid-South Community College Lady Greyhounds in the Greyhounds Classic at the Dog House.
The Norse carry a 5-1 record to Tishomingo for a 6 p.m. Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Tuesday with the Murray State College Lady Aggies. NEO is 1-0 in conference action following a 64-49 victory last Thursday over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa in the NEO Field House.
NEO travels to Moberly, Mo., Friday and Saturday to participate in the Moberly Area Community College Midwest Bone & Joint Center Classic. The Norse square off at 5 p.m Friday against the host Moberly Lady Greyhounds (4-2). NEO concludes the classic at 1 p.m. Saturday against State Fair Community College of Sedalia, Missouri (8-2).
Murray State enters the conference game with an 0-1 record in the league and a 4-4 season mark. The Aggies lost 84-61 Thursday night to Redlands Community College in El Reno.
"I'm kind of concerned about this quick turnaround," Rowland said. "We'll have a walk-through on Sunday and then get on the bus Tuesday for a long trip to Tishomingo.
"Beames Field House is a difficult place to play under any circumstances," Rowland said. "I'm concerned whether or not we'll have our legs under us."
Being able to pound the ball inside against the Mid-South Lady Greyhounds, the Norse constructed a 42-34 lead at halftime.
Eight points each by McCaskill and Rodriguez along with six points each by Melinsa Murillo,
Nikola Nedoroscikova,
Sarah Short and
Kamry Chamberlain and a layup by
Treka Franklin provided NEO with the lead at intermission.
Sophomore center Kierra Adams led the Lady Hounds with 16 total points while guard Ivory Thornton contributed 15 points.
