Box Score MIAMI — Extending their current winning streak to four games, Northeastern A&M's Golden Norsemen cruised past the Northern oklahoma College-Tonkawa Mavericks 84-63 Thursday night in the NEO Field House.
While coach
Dustin Grover's Golden Norse opened play in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference, NEO is 6-3 on the season. The loss dropped the Mavericks to 0-1 in the league and 6-3 overall.
The Golden Norsemen start a four-game road trip Tuesday with an OCAC clash at 8 p.m. against the Murray State College Aggies in Tishomingo.
Over the Thanksgiving holidays the Golden Norsemen play three games in the Three Rivers Community College Classic in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Sophomore shooting guard
Corey Baldwin came within two 3-point field goals of establishing a new NEO single-game record. The 6-4 Baldwin from Bridgeport, Connecticut canned 7 of 8 from long range in the first half as the Norsemen constructed a 44-30 lead at intermission.
Baldwin finished with 8 3-pointers to tie Jamar Love's performance against North Arkansas on Feb. 19, 2001.
The current NEO single-game 3-point record of 9 is co-owned by Ruebin Turner versus Northern-Tonkawa in 1996 and Michael Harris versus St. Gregory's College in 1988.
