Allowing a goal in the final four minutes of a soccer match with Cowley (Kan.) Community College Tuesday, Northeastern A&M's Golden Norsemen dropped a 3-2 decision at Robertson Field.
Coach John Parrigon's Norsemen remain at home Thursday with a 5 p.m. match against the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens.
"this should be a challenging match for us because Coffeyville leads the men's division of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference with a 3-1 record," Parrigon said. "They shutout Cowley last week 3-0, so we're really going to have to be on our game."
Freshman forward Garrett Ward provided the Golden Norse with a 1-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of the match with the Cowley Tigers (2-1).
After a goal by NEO freshman forward Kane Dollar early in the second half, the Tigers responded with goals by sophomore mid-fielders Erick Galvin and Oscar Hernandez to erase a 2-1 deficit.
"We really dominated the first 60 minutes of the match and had a lot of shots on goal," Parrigon said. "But, once they scored those two goals close together to take the lead, we just didn't react well and lost our focus."
