Volleyball Continues Road Matches

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — Continuing a nine-match road trip the Northeastern A&M Norse volleyball team travels to Lee's Summit, Mo., Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match with Metropolitan Community College-Longview Lakers.


Three days later coach Eric Iverson's squad travels to Union, Mo., to participate Friday in the Division II Region XVI Pre-Regional Volleyball Tournament in the gymnasium at East Central College. The Norse play St. Louis Community College at 9 a.m. followed by a match at 10:30 a.m. against host East Central. NEO squares off against Wentworth (Mo.) Military Academy at noon to conclude the tournament.
After splitting four matches last weekend in the Allen County Tournament at Iola, Kan., the Norse are 7-6 on the season while the MCC-Longview Lakers are 4-12 overall.
The Norse dropped a 3-1 decision to Neosho County, Kan., in the first match at Allen County before defeating Dodge City, Kan., by a 3-2 margin.
Facing Fort Scott, Kan., on Saturday, the Norse won 3-2 against the Greyhounds. Fort Scott won the first game 26-24 before the Norse evened the match with a 26-24 win in the second game. After the Greyhounds won 25-22 in the third game, NEO posted a 25-23 victory and a 15-8 win to capture the match.
The host Allen County Red Devils earned a 3-1 victory in NEO's final match Saturday. The Red Devils won 25-16 in the first game before NEO cruised to a 25-14 victory in the second game. Allen County captured the match by  25-16 and 25-23 scores.
