Northeastern A&M's Norse women's soccer team battled Hesston College to a 2-2 draw Sunday on the synthetic turf of Robertson Field.


With the tie the Norse are 0-7-1 on the season while the Hesston Larks are 0-7-2 on the year. The Norse return to the road Saturday for a 2 p.m. match in Mount Pleasant, Texas to face Northeast Texas. The Eagles are 4-2-0 on the season.
Hesston grabbed a 1-0 lead at the 7:15 juncture of the first half on a goal by midfielder Jasmin Yoder.
The Norse responded with a goal by Joya Smith at the 20:25 mark and one by Jacoby Penrod with 22:53 remaining to grab a 2-1 lead at intermission.
A goal by mid-fielder Myu Kobayashi at the 64:35 juncture created the eventual tie.
Coach Lisa Bell's Norse dropped a 2-1 decision to Ranger (Texas) Junior College last Saturday on the NEO grass soccer field.
After the Norse received a goal from Smith to build a 1-0 lead over Ranger in the first half, the Rangers responded with goals from sophomore mid-fielders Martha Garcia and Yuliana Montealvo in the final 45 minutes to capture the match.
