Soccer Norse Win

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - Snapping a two-game losing streak, Northeastern A&M's Golden Norsemen soccer team rolled to a 3-0 shutout Friday over Independence Community College on the Pirates' pitch.
"It's always good to get that first win under your belt," Golden Norse head coach John Parrigon said. "This was one of those matches where we came out and  took control from the start and never let them in the match.
"To come out and score three goals after we had been shutout ourselves in the first two matches is great," Parrigon said. "It was a real confidence booster for us."
The Golden Norsemen (1-2-0) return home Tuesday for a 4 p.m. match with Cowley Community College (0-1-0) of Arkansas City, Kan.
Eighteen minutes into the first half against Independence (0-2-1),, the Golden Norse received their first goal of the year on a penalty kick by sophomore Jeron Sinclair of Camdenton, Mo.
With two minutes left before halftime, NEO built a 2-0 lead as Grove freshman Gabriel Rodriquez sent a shot into the net from the top of the box.
NEO's Dublin, Ireland connection added the final goal at the 51-minute mark in the second half as sophomore Lee McNeil pushed the ball forward and passed to freshman Jonner Carroll for a shot on goal.
