Missed Free Throws Hurt NEO In 3 Point Loss

Box Score ALTUS – An errant 3-point field goal attempt at the buzzer by Northeastern A&M freshman guard Luther Thomas fell short as the Golden Norsemen dropped a 76-73 Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference game Monday night to Western Oklahoma State College.


Thomas (6-4 from Fort Worth, Texas) shot the ball in desperation as the horn sounded after the Western State Pioneers had rallied from a 36-35 halftime deficit. NEO went 15 of 33 from the FT Line in the loss.
With the loss coach Dustin Grover's Golden Norse are 7-5 in the conference and 14-10 on the season. The Norsemen travel to Warner on Thursday for an 8 p.m. conference showdown with league-leading Connors State College.
Coach Rolando De La Barrera's Pioneers are 4-6 in the conference and 13-8 overall.
Frederico Santos and Ja'mill Powell combined to lead the Norsemen with 17 total points each while Thomas scored 13, Nkosi Ali 10, Derrick Frye six, Javaune Dawson five, Jake Roach three and Rufus Brown two points. 
Sophomore shooting guard Stirling Thomas paced the Pioneers with 17 points and Dil'Jon Allen-Jordan contributed 15, Demontrey Mitchell 14, Jalen Chapman 13, Jedarian Jackson 12, D'Audrio Patton three and Cameron Haley two points.
