Starting his 20th year as a Head College Wrestling Coach, Renfro has compiled a 218 – 42 – 3 Dual Record. His teams have won 16 West / South Central District Championships, he was voted West / South Central District “Coach of the Year” 11 times, and NJCAA National Wrestling “Coach of the Year” 7 times. Coach Renfro has produced 123 NJCAA All-American Wrestlers and 135 Academic All-Americans. Being a Finalist or National Champion is a common expectation, as he has put 37 in the finals while 21 have earned individual National Championship honors. In his previous 19 years, his teams have never placed below 7th at the National Tournament and 13 of those years they finished in the top 3: 3 – 3rd place finishes, 4 – Runner-Up finishes, and 6 Team National Titles.
His first year at NEO was record setting. The 2013-14 squad won the first ever wrestling National Championship for NEO in the first year of reinstatement of the program after 22 years of extinction. Coach Renfro was named the District and National Coach of the Year. The team also won the District Championship, while finishing 12-0 in dual meets.
