    Assistant Football Coach- Defensive Line
Coach Seth Newsome will be entering his first season coaching the defensive line for the NEO Norsemen after two previous stops at Greensboro College (N.C.) as assistant offensive line coach and Susquehanna University (PA) as defensive line coach.

Newsome played defensive line at Louisiana State University (LSU) from 2016-18 and was a part of some of the nation’s most dominant defenses headed by now Baylor Head Coach Dave Aranda. In 2016, LSU’s defense led the nation in touchdowns allowed (16) and was among college football’s elite with rushing yards per carry (3.3). The Tigers were 13th in total defense and 4th in total points allowed.

Newsome was coached by legendary defensive line coach (and Head Coach) Ed Orgeron and whom most consider to be the greatest defensive line coach in history, Pete Jenkins. Both men have coached numerous all-conference players, All-Americans, NFL draft picks and even some NFL HOF players.

He was also a part of college football’s most elite strength and conditioning program headed up by the unparalleled Tommy Moffit. Newsome will be taking his years of experience under Coach Moffit and bringing it to the weightroom and conditioning program at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M to benefit the Norsemen in every facet and to give them the tools to become the most elite, mentally tough athletes that they can be.

Newsome is looking forward to taking what he has learned about elite defensive line play and applying it to the Norsemen along the defensive front. He is very much looking forward to developing them both as productive football players and outstanding men.

Coach Seth Newsome grew up in Stafford County, Virginia. He is one of 9 children (7 boys, 2 girls). After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a rifleman in the infantry. After serving, he attended LSU on his GI Bill and graduated in 2019 with a BA in History.
