Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Names Tisha Abell as NEO Coed Cheer and Norse Stars Head Coach

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) has officially announced Tisha Abell as the new head coach for the NEO Coed Cheer and Norse Stars teams.

"I am very excited about the future of cheer and dance at NEO," said Abell. "I loved my experience as a student at NEO and being a cheerleader. I am looking forward to giving that same experience to my future student-athletes. I am honored to be part of the legacy at NEO. Row, Norse, Row!"

Abell grew up in Plato, Missouri and attended Plato High School where she was a member of the cheer team. She attended NEO from 1998-2000 where she earned an associate degree in business administration and was a member of the coed cheer team and served as captain her sophomore year. She then earned a bachelor's and master's degree in business administration from Northeastern State University. 

Abell has served as an accounting instructor for the NEO Business Department since 2024.

"We are excited to have an alumna leading the way," said NEO Athletic Director Joe Renfro. "I have no doubt she will continue to uphold the pride that is warranted for our cheer and dance teams. Coach Abell's current involvement with activities on campus and her faculty position, make her the perfect fit."

NEO Coed Cheer & Norse Stars open gym/tryouts will be held from 9am-4pm on the following dates.

Saturday, June 27
Friday, July 24
Saturday, July 25

You only need to sign up for one day. All sessions will be held in the NEO Student Activity Center. Please email Tisha Abell at tisha.abell@neo.edu to register.
