Lady Norse Open Season with Statement Win Over No. 20 Wabash Valley
The Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Lady Norse opened their 2025–26 season in impressive fashion on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 20 Wabash Valley, 76–58, at the Three Rivers Classic in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Sophomore small forward Ana Carolina Furtado led the way with a dominant offensive performance, scoring 25 points to pace the Lady Norse attack. Taneya Howard made a major impact on both ends of the floor, posting a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Taiona Morris pulled down 10 rebounds to help NEO control the boards throughout the game.
The Lady Norse set the tone early with aggressive defense and balanced scoring, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back. NEO's relentless rebounding and transition offense helped them maintain momentum and secure the wire-to-wire victory against the nationally ranked Warriors.
The Lady Norse will look to build on their strong start when they return to action tomorrow against Olney Central College.
