The NEO Lady Norse softball team finished their regular 2024 spring season with an away double header at Rose State College on May 2nd. The Lady Norse split the double header with a game one 4-7 loss, and a game two 8-2 win.
NEO came out swinging aggressively in game one, putting up four runs in the top of the first inning when Corissa Bandel singled, followed by 3 hole Destiny Tune doubling, scoring Bandel. Madi Pratt then singled, scoring Tune. Kayley Iott followed it up with a towering home run to left field. Iott provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led NEO with two runs batted in. Destiny Tune led the Lady Norse in hits, going two for four at the plate. Morgan Wright and Sydney Price also had a hit to contribute. Corissa Bandel and Emily Carpenter each swiped a bag in the game. NEO did not have an error in the field. Sydney Price made the most plays with five. Freshman Corissa Bandel started the game, going 4.2 innings, giving up six runs on four hits, walking seven and striking out two. Morgan Wright came in in relief and threw 0.1 innings, with one run scored, three hits and walking one. Jill McDaniel also threw an inning in relief. McDaniel gave up no runs and one hit.
Game two went NEO's way with a 8-2 victory. The bats came alive with twelve hits and four walks, with no strikeouts. Tune again led in hits going three for four at the plate with a single, double, homerun, and four RBI. Corissa Bandel and Lauren Christy each added two hits and scored three times between the two of them. Calico, Davidson, Iott(2b), Wade, and Wright each tacked on a hit a piece to help push the Lady Norse to a victory. Price walked twice, and Davidson and Wright each added a walk. NEO stole four bases with Bandel, Christy, Davidson, and Iott each taking a bag. There was one defensive error for the Lady Norse. Game two was a complete game in the circle for sophomore Lillie Johnson. She gave up two runs (0 earned), three hits, two walks, and two strikeouts, getting the complete game win.
