Lady Norse take Care of Business

The Lady Norse hosted Independence Community College for a Friday evening double header. Game one NEO took care of business with a 9-5 win. Sophomore Lillie Johnson earned the win. She gave up eleven hits, striking out eight and walking one in her complete game win. The Lady Norse totaled thirteen hits in the game. Center fielder Destiny Tune led the way going a perfect 4-4 with two singles, a double, and a triple. Kayley Iott followed closely behind her with 3 hits- all three doubles. Leadoff Corissa Bandel with 2-4. Hadley Calico, Presley Cole, Madalyn Norton, and Madison Pratt each recorded a hit as well. The Lady Norse were quick on their feet with seven total stolen bases. Bandel led the way with 3. Tune and Iott both had three RBI apiece. Pratt, Bandel, and Sydney Price each added a single RBI to total the team's runs to 9.

Game two was similar with a 9-4 NEO win. The ladies didn't waste any time getting on the board, scoring three in the first inning when leadoff Bandel singled, Tune doubled, Iott walked, and then Madison Pratt had a sacrifice fly, and Skyler Wade singled. Independence rallied in the top of the third inning and took a 4-3 lead, but the Lady Norse retaliated in the bottom of the inning and put the Pirates away for good with a big six run inning. There were fourteen total hits for NEO in game two. Bandel, Iott, Norton, Pratt, and Tune each had two hits, and Presley Cole, Jayley Ray, Skyler Wade, and Morgan Wright each tacked on their own hit to contribute to the complete team win. The Lady Norse worked collectively as a team with only one of those hits being an extra base hit (Tune double in the first). NEO again stole seven total times with Bandel swiping three bags. Skyler Wade earned the win for game two. She allowed only three hits in three innings. Striking out one and walking one. Corissa Bandel pitched four innings in relief. She allowed five hits and no runs, striking out six and walking two. The Lady Norse were perfect in the field with no errors given up.
