Ward Recap: "We always play a tough February schedule. I want my players to see quality people before we hit conference play. When we schedule the UCO JUCO Festival we know that we are going to play 3 quality JayHawk Conference Opponents. We came out of the Bulter game disappointed because we pitched well but had a couple of defensive miscues that cost 7 runs. I also thought we should have handled their arms better than we did. In game 2 vs Dodge we got a solid start from Garcia and combined for 8 runs through the first 4 innings. This included back to back Bomb's from
Solo Skalnik and
Cooper Addison in the 2nd, a 2 Run HR from
Cooper Addison in the 4th and 6th Freshman Catcher
Nate Murphy hit his 1st HR of the season. It was nice to see the offensive side open up and show us what we can be capable of. In Game 3 we saw a really good starter from Cloud. He was up to 94 with good movement. We had solid Ab's against him but left a runner in scoring position in the 1st inning and left the bases loaded in the second. We saw their best starter and their best bridge guy. We just could not put a scoring inning together on them. Arch was throwing well with 3 shutout innings but in the fourth he walked the first two batters followed by a double and a hit batter. He gave up 4 which was enough Cloud. We will continue to play good people and develop this young team. I feel we will be a much better overall club when we have another 15 to 20 games under our belts.' RW20
